David Manal was born in Saudi Arabia to Palestinian and Jordanian parents. He has been a chef and owner of  more than 11 restaurants since 2003 and at present owns the ever popular Cafe La Plage on the prestigious Umhlanga promenade in Durban.

 

David is a serial entrepreneur, and has gained experience through the multiple risks he has taken in creating businesses such as Eva Forex and Eva Apps. He has always had a deep desire to give back, coming from an underprivileged background himself.  In his book Kitchen Gangster he tells of his story from Jordan to South Africa and demonstrates the resilience needed to succeed in any environment. 

 

As the founder of The Spotter, a venture he is working on in collaboration with the FP & M Seta to empower more South African students to find internships and employment opportunities, he hopes to create a brighter future for them and their families.
